This year, the second graders will be reading lots of stories from a variety of genres! We will be reading stories that are fantasy, realistic fiction, biographies, fables and folktales to name a few! We will be learning why the author wrote each story while digging deeper into different reading strategies. We will learn how to summarize a text, identify the main idea and ask questions to grow in reading comprehension of the text.
We will be using Wonders for bi-weekly stories and vocabulary. We also will be utilizing our Scholastic Weekly Readers to learn more about informational and expository texts. We will be reading a variety of novels a part of our literary program as well.
